FROS builds powered wheelchair for Hilliard, Ohio-based family

Members of FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State recently partnered with The Antidote Robotics Team (FTC 14320) to develop and construct a powered wheelchair for a family based in Hilliard, Ohio.

FROS listed as recipients of two student organization awards

Columbus, Ohio (June 4, 2020) – Recently, FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State was awarded with two student organization awards from the Office of Student Life and the College of Engineering, respectively.

Local teams excel at the FIRST Robotics Competition Miami Valley Regional

Columbus, Ohio (March 3, 2020) – Several local FIRST Robotics Competition® (FRC) teams competed at the Miami Valley Regional between Thursday, February 27 to Saturday, February 29. This public event was held at the Wright State University Nutter Center and featured 60 teams representing a total of 7 states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, and West Virginia).

FROS participates in Robot in 3 Days for the first time

Columbus, Ohio (January 9, 2020) – FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State participated in the Robot in 3 Days project for the first time, sponsored by The Ohio State University College of Engineering and the Center of Robotics Innovation (CORI).

SWE and FROS co-host FIRST® LEGO League Regional Qualifier

Columbus, Ohio (December 7, 2019) – The second annual FIRST® LEGO League regional qualifier hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State (FROS) was held on The Ohio State University’s campus. This year’s event was held on December 7th at Hitchcock Hall and was the beginning of an exciting partnership between the two student organizations.

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international non-profit organization founded in Manchester, NH in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers. Their mission is to inspire PreK-12 students to be engaged in science and technology through mentor-based programs.

About FROS

FIRST® Alumni & Robotics at Ohio State (FROS) is an active student organization, founded in 1996, focused on supporting FIRST teams and events locally and throughout the state of Ohio. Our mission is to gain recognition within our university as well as the Central Ohio region through mentorship, community service, and outreach on a local and national scale. We provide mentorship to local teams of all levels, host and volunteer at official and off-season events, and participate in building a robot in three days. Many of our members are alumni in FIRST programs, but we are open to any student, staff, or faculty member who is interested in FIRST.
